SO OUR NUMBERS FOR 9TH, 10TH, 11TH, AND 12TH GRADE, WE'VE GOT A REALLY SMALL 11TH GRADE, SMALL, BUT THANKS.
EXTREMELY MIGHTY, 11TH GRADE, AND WE HAVE OUR LARGEST GRADE CURRENTLY IS OUR CURRENT SENIOR CLASS. WE DO HAVE ABOUT 106, IT'S PROBABLY MORE THAN 106 NEW STUDENTS AT THIS POINT. WE'RE REALLY FORTUNATE TO HAVE A COMMUNITY WHERE STUDENTS ARE WELCOMING TO ALL OF OUR NEW STUDENTS THAT COME ON CAMPUS. MILITARY STUDENTS, ABOUT 25% OF THEM ARE COSA STUDENTS, ABOUT 160. I THINK WE MAY BE AT LIKE 162. INTER-DISTRICT TRANSFERS WERE AT 222, AND 7% OF THOSE STUDENTS ARE OUR COSA INTER-DISTRICT TRANSFERS. AND OUR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES, ALTHOUGH IT'S AT 31 AND LAST YEAR IT WAS 37, THAT'S STILL REALLY OUTSTANDING. SO GREAT DATA HAPPENING FOR OUR SUBPOPULATIONS AS WELL.
SO LOOKING AT AP TESTING, AP SCORES WERE REALLY, REALLY GREAT THIS YEAR. I WAS IN NORTH CAROLINA. I WOKE UP EARLY IN JULY AND OPENED UP SUCH A NERD, OPENED UP COLLEGE BOARD, BECAUSE I HAD TO SEE HOW EVERYBODY DID. AND I WAS SENDING TEXT MESSAGES TO THE TEACHERS SAYING CONGRATULATIONS. BUT OUR NUMBERS ARE REALLY OUTSTANDING.
AND IN ADDITION, WE ARE BACK UP TO WHERE WE WERE IN 2020, AROUND 800 PARTICIPATION RATE.
AND THE DATA HAS REALLY INCREASED FOR THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS THAT ARE RECEIVING A 5 AND THOSE RECEIVING A 3, 4, AND 5. SO JUST TO SHARE WITH YOU A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT AP TESTING.
LIKE I SAID, WE'RE ON THAT UPWARD TREND. OUT OF 22 OF THE MAIN ASSESSMENTS GIVEN, WE DO GIVE A FEW OTHER ASSESSMENTS THAT WE DON'T HAVE COURSES ON OUR CAMPUS, BUT OUT OF THE 22... 19 OF THOSE TEST SCORES MET OR EXCEEDED THE GLOBAL RATE, THE GLOBAL SUCCESS RATE, SO 19 OF THEM. AND I JUST WANTED TO SHARE A COUPLE OF STATISTICS WITH YOU. I KNOW, DR. BATTLE MAY HAVE GONE INTO THIS A LITTLE BIT, BUT I'M JUST SO EXCITED.
COMPUTER SCIENCE PRINCIPLES WENT FROM A 39% TO A 71%, AND JAVA, COMPUTER SCIENCE A, WENT FROM A 29% TO A 67%. AND U.S.
HISTORY THREE YEARS AGO WAS IN THE 50S, AND THIS YEAR IT'S 92%. SO IT'S PRETTY AMAZING. AP BIO IS HOLDING STEADY. AP CHEM HAS BEEN 100% ACROSS THE BOARD.
THESE KIDS ARE CRUSHING IT ON THESE ASSESSMENTS, AND THEIR TEACHERS ARE THE PEOPLE THAT ARE GETTING THEM READY FOR IT. SO I'M JUST SO EXCITED FOR THE KIDS, SO EXCITED FOR THE TEACHERS. SO MOVING ON, AND YOU MAY HAVE A QUESTION FOR ME ABOUT THIS, SO PSAT, WE DID A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENTLY THIS YEAR. THIS YEAR, WE OFFERED IT ON A SATURDAY, RATHER THAN DOING IT DURING THE SCHOOL DAY. WE REALLY WANTED TO CAPTURE SOME INSTRUCTIONAL MINUTES BACK, AND SO WE PUT THE DATE OUT AS EARLY ON AS POSSIBLE AND INVITED WHOMEVER WANTED TO COME. SO WE HAD ABOUT 180-ISH STUDENTS THAT SHOWED UP. AND THE DATA THAT I PROVIDED HERE IS BASED ON THAT NUMBER OF STUDENTS. SO YOU CAN SEE THAT IN 22, 23, AND 24, IT'S BASED ON ALL 9TH, 10TH, 11TH GRADERS THAT WERE ON CAMPUS.
BUT THIS IS JUST THE 180 STUDENTS THAT TOOK IT. SO THEY MET BENCHMARKS AT 96% AND 74% FOR READING AND WRITING, AS WELL AS FOR MATH. YOU CAN SEE I PUT TOGETHER. FOR 78 STUDENTS OF 9TH AND 10TH GRADERS, THEIR AVERAGE BENCHMARK FOR MATH WAS A 560 FOR BOTH READING AND WRITING AND FOR MATH, WHEREAS THE STANDARD BENCHMARK FOR 9TH AND 10TH GRADE IS REALLY LIKE A 430 AND LIKE A 490. AND THEN IF YOU LOOK AT OUR JUNIORS, THERE WERE 97 OF THEM WHO TOOK THE ASSESSMENT THIS YEAR. AND THEIR COMPOSITE WAS AN 1135, WAY EXCEEDING THE NATIONAL COMPOSITE. THE STUDENTS DID REALLY, REALLY WELL. BUT BACKING UP FOR A MOMENT TO THIS YEAR'S SENIORS, THERE WERE 11 STUDENTS THAT EARNED NATIONAL MERIT COMMENDATION AWARDS. THOSE 11, THAT'S THE LARGEST NUMBER I'VE SEEN SINCE I'VE BEEN AT CORONADO HIGH SCHOOL. AND TODAY I JUST RECEIVED A LETTER FROM NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLAR THAT I HAVE ONE FINALIST. SHE DOESN'T KNOW YET, BUT SHE'S GOING TO FIND OUT TOMORROW. I BET YOU CAN GUESS WHO IT IS. ALL RIGHT, SO VERY EXCITING, GREAT DATA.

TO DO IT ON A SATURDAY, AND IT WORKED OUT REALLY WELL. AND THOSE KIDS WERE REALLY INVESTED IN THE ASSESSMENT, SO I WAS REALLY PROUD OF THEM. SO I DO WANT TO SHARE WITH YOU OUR CASP DATA. IT'S A 10% INCREASE, WHICH IS WONDERFUL. AND THEN 66, A 16-POINT INCREASE IN SCIENCE. AND IF YOU TAKE A LOOK AT THE INDICATORS, YOU CAN SEE WHERE WE FALL.BASED ON HOW EVERYTHING IS CALCULATED ACROSS THE STATE. SO WE ARE DOING REALLY WELL WITH SCIENCE, WE'RE DOING REALLY WELL WITH ENGLISH, AND WE ARE DOING REALLY WELL WITH MATH.
EVERYTHING HAS UPTICKED ONE COLOR. I WILL SAY THAT LAST YEAR I WENT ON WHAT I CALLED ON TOUR, AND I WENT TO EVERY 11TH GRADE HISTORY CLASS AND EVERY 11TH GRADE ENGLISH CLASS.
I DIDN'T CAPTURE EVERY 11TH GRADER. I MISSED ABOUT 50 OF THEM. BUT I WENT INTO ALL THOSE CLASSES AND I TALKED TO THE STUDENTS ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF CASP AND WHY. HAVING THIS DATA, PUTTING THE EFFORT IN, INVESTING IN THE TEST WAS SO CRITICAL.
BECAUSE IT IMPACTS SCHOOL RANKINGS, IT IMPACTS WHAT COLLEGES LOOK AT, IT IMPACTS THEIR ABILITY TO BYPASS CERTAIN CLASSES IF THEY WANT TO. IT ALSO IMPACTS. I DO HAVE TO SAY THAT ALTHOUGH THE TEACHERS DO AN EXCELLENT JOB WITH TELLING THE STUDENTS THIS IS REALLY CRITICAL, IT'S SO IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO PUT THE EFFORT IN, BECAUSE IT'S A LOCAL ASSESSMENT AND THERE'S NO TEETH TO IT, STUDENTS DON'T ALWAYS INVEST IN IT. WE ALSO STARTED USING STAR ASSESSMENT. WE USED IT A LITTLE BIT LAST YEAR, AND THIS YEAR WE HAVE OUR FOUNDATIONS IM1 TO IM1, WHICH IS A YEAR LONG.
WE ALSO HAVE AN IM2 YEAR-LONG COURSE THIS YEAR, AND THOSE ARE INTERVENTION COURSES. THERE'S TWO SECTIONS OF EACH. IT SLOWS IT DOWN A LITTLE BIT, AND THOSE TEACHERS TEACHING IT ARE PROVIDING OR HAVING STUDENTS TAKE THIS PROGRESS MONITORING ASSESSMENT THAT I KNOW ELEMENTARY USES, MIDDLE SCHOOL USES, AND WE HAVE FOUND THAT IT REALLY DOES PROVIDE INFORMATION ABOUT THE BENCHMARK AND WHERE THE STUDENTS ARE LANDING. SO, YOU KNOW, IT'S WONDERFUL TO GIVE ACCESS TO TRYING OUT DIFFERENT TYPES OF COURSES AND GETTING THOSE ARTICULATED CREDITS. BECAUSE IT'S SORT OF A CARROT FOR THOSE STUDENTS, MAYBE THE MORE DISADVANTAGED STUDENTS, TO SEE WHAT IT'S LIKE TO TAKE THESE DUAL ENROLLMENT COURSES. AND GET

THEY ASKED FOR THESE COURSES. SO WE WERE ABLE TO PROVIDE THEM FOR THEM. CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT ARE THE CLASSES THAT STUDENTS WILL TAKE AT THE COMMUNITY COLLEGE OUTSIDE OF THE SCHOOL DAY. SO SOME STUDENTS MIGHT TAKE A CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT COURSE IN AN ADDITIONAL SOCIAL SCIENCE THAT MAYBE THEY'RE INTERESTED IN, THAT WE DON'T OFFER.SOMETIMES THEY TAKE AN ADDITIONAL COURSE IN SOMETHING THAT WE DO OFFER, BUT THEY CAN'T FIT IT INTO THEIR SCHEDULE FOR SOME REASON. AND THEN ARTICULATED CREDITS, WE HAVE.
THE MAJORITY OF THE ARTICULATED CREDITS ARE IN THE BIOMED, SPORTS MED CLASS, AS WELL AS A LOT OF OUR COSA CLASSES, TOO. AND RECENTLY, OUR VISUAL ARTS TEACHER IN COSA REALIZED THAT SHE COULD BE ARTICULATING SOME OF THESE VISUAL ARTS COURSES IN COSA, AND KRISTEN HAS BEEN WORKING WITH HER TO GET THOSE CREDITS ARTICULATED. SO IT'S VERY EXCITED BECAUSE THOSE KIDS ARE NOW GOING TO HAVE COLLEGE CREDITS RIGHT OUT OF COSA. SO, ADDITIONALLY, INTERNSHIPS AND WORK EXPERIENCE, JENNIFER LANDRY IS IN THE ROOM, AND SHE RUNS OUR INTERNSHIP AND WORK EXPERIENCE.

AND I THINK THERE ARE A LOT OF STUDENTS IN 10TH, 11TH, AND 12TH GRADE THAT ARE REALLY JEALOUS THAT THEY DIDN'T GET TO TAKE THAT CLASS. THE DUAL ENROLLMENT CLASSES THAT I MENTIONED, AND THEN AGAIN, WE'VE EXPANDED OUR COURSE OFFERINGS THAT ARE NOW A THROUGH G AS WELL. THIS IS ALSO SOMETHING THAT KRISTEN ARENO DOES. SHE SUBMITS ALL OF THESE COURSES FOR A THROUGH G APPROVAL SO THAT WE CAN COUNT THOSE ON STUDENTS TRANSCRIPTS. AND THEN SOME OTHER SITE UPDATES.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. THE CELL PHONE, I WENT TO A COUPLE OF FORUMS ON CELL PHONES. I WENT TO ONE WITH STUDENTS, SO THERE WERE ROUGHLY, I THINK ALL OF YOU WERE THERE, ROUGHLY PRINCIPAL MOLINA AND SUPERINTENDENT MUELLER, 20 STUDENTS, AND AT LUNCHTIME, NONE HAD THEIR CELL PHONES OUT.
THAT WAS PRETTY GOOD. AND THEN EVERYONE WAS VERY WELL SPOKEN AND WAS AGAINST RESTRICTING CELL PHONES. SO I PULLED ONE STUDENT ASIDE. I'M LIKE, BOY, THIS IS AN EXCEPTIONAL BUNCH OF 20 STUDENTS HERE. THEY'RE NOT LIKE MY SON. AND SO I PULLED ONE ASIDE. I SAID, CHRISTOPHER, WHERE ARE YOU GOING NEXT YEAR? HE SAYS, I'M GOING TO STANFORD. I'M LIKE, OK, THIS IS THE SUPERSTAR 20 HERE THAT WE'RE TALKING TO. AND THEN I WENT TO THE PARENT FORUM, AND IT WAS THE OPPOSITE, WHERE ALL THE PARENTS WERE AGAINST CELL PHONES. THEY WERE SAYING, LET'S GET RID OF THEM ON CAMPUS. I JUST WANTED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE TIME THAT THEY GIVE UP ON THEIR OWN TO PARTICIPATE IN THAT FORUM, BUT ALSO OTHER STUDENTS WHO ARE ENGAGED IN OTHER TYPES OF EXPERIENCES WHERE THEIR VOICE IS AMPLIFIED THROUGH.
